ISR Self-Rescue Skills are a sensorimotor skills, just like walking, crawling or riding a bike. Sensorimotor skills are not simply forgotten but can get rusty without use. This is why we recommend coming back for refreshers to keep their skills sharp.
Since you pay for the week, and not for the day, there are no refunds for missed lessons. If you know that your child will miss 5+ lessons in a particular session, I recommend trying to get in during another session. Starting in 2024, I will be requiring payment for missed weeks during all sessions.
The short answer is... maybe. Some children do cry for the first few lessons. I always encourage parents to watch their child's behavior before, during and after lessons. Some children cry only during the actual lesson and are happy and smiling once they are laying on their towel and get their hard-earned sticker.
Parents will only be asked to get in the water when it is deemed appropriate by the instructor. For floaters, this will be during the last week of lessons. For swimmers, this may be 1 or 2x during the entire session. We will always discuss before hand and plan accordingly.
Yes! ISR is specifically geared for children 6 months to 6 years old, however, children older than that can be successfully taught as well. Older children may not take as long to be skilled. Plan on speaking with your instructor to determine skill level and expectations.
I understand that for some situations you will be unable to take your child to lessons during the day for 6 weeks in a row. For this reason, I do offer a once yearly session from 4-6:30pm in the January/February. In the summers, the latest time I offer is 4:30pm.
Every child needs to register through ISR prior to lessons. There is a one-time registration fee of $105 which goes directly to ISR (NOT your instructor) to cover a comprehensive medical background check. ISR’s staff of nurses reviews all the information in full to ensure your child can safely participate in lessons. Registration links will be sent out approximately 4 weeks prior to the start of lessons, at which time you will pay this fee.
Weekly tuition is $105. If you chose to pay by cash/check, you will receive a discounted rate of $100. You can chose to pay weekly, or all at once.
*Please note that pricing may be different for locations outside of Artesia based upon pool fees, travel expenses and smaller session sizes. Reach out for specific details prior to booking.
If you need to set up a payment plan, or need information on available scholarships, please email your instructor at Jade.Donaghe@infantswim.com
If you have read all of the information above and are ready to schedule lessons, click the button below. A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of $105 is required to hold your time slot. This deposit is your first week's tuition.
